Département Interactions Plantes-Environnement "IPE" - iEES Paris

En tant que producteurs primaires, les végétaux sont essentiels au fonctionnement des écosystèmes pour lesquels ils assurent de nombreux services écosystémiques vitaux tels que la production de carbone organique, de dioxygène, tout en contribuant à l’amélioration des sols …

Or, les plantes sont des organismes sessiles ne pouvant se soustraire aux contraintes imposées par leur environnement. Par conséquent, la capacité de réponse des plantes à ces contraintes détermine de manière fondamentale 1) les services rendus par la végétation (production primaire, biomasse, qualité de l’air…), 2) leur répartition au sein des écosystèmes à l’échelle locale, continentale ou planétaire.

Les recherches effectuées dans le département Interactions plantes-environnement sont focalisées sur les mécanismes physiologiques (à l’échelle de l’individu, de la population ou à celle de communautés) que les plantes mettent en œuvre en réponse à des contraintes de nature abiotique (sécheresse, salinité, métaux lourds…) et/ou biotique (pathogènes, ingénieurs du sol).


Objectifs

Les deux équipes du département IPE s’intéressent aux réponses des plantes aux contraintes environnementales en vue de :

  • caractériser les mécanismes de tolérance des plantes aux contraintes environnementales,
  • évaluer l’importance relative de voies du métabolisme végétal (métabolismes azoté, photosynthétique…) dans les cycles biogéochimiques,
  • développer des biomarqueurs de tolérance/sensibilité, correspondant à différents niveaux d’intégration de la physiologie de la plante (photosynthèse, respiration…),
  • développer des stratégies de bioremédiation (phytoremédiation) pour la détoxification des sols,
  • développer des systèmes de biosurveillance environnementale par l’intermédiaire de plantes.
Structuration du département

Le département rassemble deux équipes de recherche, APCE et EcoPhyS , composées d’enseignants-chercheurs et chercheurs spécialisés dans le domaine de la physiologie des plantes : l’équipe APCE est localisée sur le site de Jussieu (Paris 5e) et l’équipe EcoPhyS est localisée sur le site de l’UPEC (94-Créteil) .
