Département Ecologie Évolutive "EcoEvo" - iEES Paris

Les équipes du département Écologie évolutive étudient les causes et les conséquences écologiques et évolutives de la variabilité phénotypique des individus, en se focalisant sur le comportement, la physiologie, la morphologie et les traits d’histoire de vie.

Elles réalisent des études expérimentales et de modélisation sur une diversité de modèles biologiques animaux (oiseaux, lézards, insectes sociaux, collemboles, etc.).

Les recherches du département Écologie évolutive portent sur l’adaptation phénotypique et évolutive aux changements globaux, sur les processus physiologiques impliqués (écophysiologie), y compris les processus développementaux qui contraignent la gamme des phénotypes possibles (éco-évo-dévo). 

Des travaux portent ainsi sur les bases épigénétiques de la variation phénotypique et du vieillissement dans une perspective évolutionniste, la dispersion, les mécanismes évolutifs du maintien des polymorphismes de couleur (effets du mélanisme sur les défenses immunitaires), les effets maternels, la sélection sexuelle, et les interactions sociales (coopération et conflits sociaux).

Les équipes du département Écologie évolutive sont particulièrement impliquées dans deux des axes transversaux de l’Institut : Écologie urbaine et Changements globaux, écologies fonctionnelle et évolutive.

Une part importante des travaux expérimentaux du département est réalisée au Centre de Recherche en Écologie Expérimentale et prédictive.
